Privacy Policy

Privacy policy for MoorOfUS.org.

Privacy Policy

This policy describes how MoorOfUS.org handles information in the current site.

Information users provide voluntarily

Users may voluntarily provide information by emailing MoorOfUS. That information can include a name, email address, page URL, correction request, source suggestion, permission question, or general editorial message. MoorOfUS uses that information to respond and to maintain editorial records.

Server logs

The hosting environment may keep standard server logs. Logs can include IP address, browser type, requested URL, referring URL, date, time, and error information. These logs are used for security, reliability, debugging, and site operations.

Cookies

MoorOfUS may use cookies or local browser storage for ordinary site operation, security, analytics, or administrative access. The public site should not require a reader to create an account to read public records.

Analytics

The WordPress runtime includes Google Analytics 4 measurement configured with IP anonymization. Analytics are used to understand aggregate page usage and site reliability. MoorOfUS does not use analytics to publish private lineage, family, or genetic information.

Advertising and Google AdSense

MoorOfUS maintains Google AdSense policy disclosures because the site uses ads.txt and is under advertising review. Public display ad rendering is disabled during review and until a separate implementation review approves reader-facing placements. No display ad units, affiliate tracking links, source-index sponsorship placements, checkout widgets, or billing calls to action are active on public pages.

Third-party vendors, including Google, may use cookies to serve or measure ads only after ad rendering is approved and active. Google advertising cookies may allow Google and its partners to serve ads based on visits to MoorOfUS and other sites. Readers may opt out of personalized advertising through Google Ads Settings.

Ads must remain separate from editorial conclusions, source notes, correction language, and sensitive identity-related caution text. Advertising relationships cannot influence which sources are included, how claims are labeled, or whether a correction is accepted.

Reader-submitted sensitive material

MoorOfUS does not ask readers to send private identity documents, genetic files, family records, addresses, phone numbers, passwords, or private lineage material for ordinary editorial contact. If a reader sends sensitive material anyway, it may be deleted, ignored, or handled only long enough to respond to the request or protect the site from abuse.

Public pages should rely on reviewable public sources. Private messages, family stories, screenshots, ritual claims, or identity documents are not treated as public historical proof unless MoorOfUS has explicitly requested a defined submission, the sender has authorized publication, and readers can inspect the evidentiary basis.

Data sharing and retention

MoorOfUS does not sell reader-submitted correction, contact, or source-tip information. Messages may be retained as editorial correspondence when they support a correction, permissions question, source suggestion, safety report, or site maintenance issue. Routine server and analytics data may be retained by hosting, analytics, security, or infrastructure providers according to their own retention practices.

Contact

Privacy questions can be sent to editorial@moorofus.org.

Updates to this policy

This policy may be updated when the site’s operations, analytics, advertising, or contact practices materially change.
